Drug dangers and antidotes

It would be good if every drug before it reaches the market had an antidote, in case the effects are unwanted.

Also any drug that causes physical dependence should be only used in the most desperate of situations, if at all.

There are few things worse that being hooked on something that undermines your health and wellbeing, with no easy way off, whether it be legal or illicit.

Cannabis

Some plants have an affinity with the brain that enables them to alter consciousness, sometimes in profound ways.

Although use of these plants is generally outlawed, they remain in wide use.

The cannabis plant, in particular, remains very popular and is now being studied in great detail by breeders and researchers alike, particularly in places where drug laws have been liberalized.

The cannabis plant provides endless fascination for researchers due to it's highly complicated chemical makeup, which makes endless combinations possible for the breeder, with the different effects that these components have on the consumer.

There's a difference between being chemically insane and clinically insane...

Drugs can have different effects on different people and can induce temporary (chemically induced) insanity, whereas clinical insanity exists whether a person is on a drug or not, and is a factor of the normal brain state.

Why I am against the drug war

Sharka Todd + 2001 (film)

I am against the drug war because I believe the individual should have the freedom to partake of the fruits of the earth in their own way and of their own choosing.  And this includes those things created in a science lab, such as the drugs MDMA (Ecstasy), LSD and ketamine, which have been shown to be useful for personal development.

A free market in these things would help drive the market towards the provision of safer and more effective forms of these substances, if that is the desire of consumers.  This may help reduce some of the negative effects the outlawing of mind-alterants has, which includes poor, unsafe, adulterated and unreliable products, unwanted deaths through inadvertent overdose, lengthy prison sentences and lives ruined for those caught up in the trade, and the empowering of criminal elements in society.

The legalizing of drugs would not erase the dangers of addiction and misuse which currently exist but through access to accurate, unbiased information on individual drugs and safe use, and the provision of support services for users who need them, these negatives could be minimized.

Meanwhile, the whole process would be under the control of society rather than being run by rogue criminal elements, and would therefore be more transparent and able to be changed to suit evolving community ideas.

Comment on the current drug policy

Drug policy is currently being run by fear-based, social controlling, do-gooders, whose main concern seems to be protecting the interests of pharmaceutical, tobacco and alcohol companies at the expense of  individual freedom and wellbeing!

There are so many wonderful substances denied us which could help expand our consciousness whilst we are allowed only the highly toxic, consciousness-lowering drug alcohol. Nowhere is this worse than here in Australia where even plants allowed our friends in North America are denied us!  This is supposedly to to "protect" us from our own foolishness, as if such a thing is possible!  In time, may enlightenment reign and our God-given freedom to explore the wonders of this world be restored! Amen!

Drug use can be quite instructive-

but the danger of addiction often overshadows this fact!

Nutritional needs of smoking marijuana: BUZUGEE

buzugee:

i believe [smoking MJ] takes your mentals and spirit to a whole new level of consciousness that you can and will never achieve consciously. the only negative thing about it though is that in the trance of your new consciousness and the awakening of all your senses, this saps your body of a lot of nutrients and hence why you get the munchies. your body is crying out for nourishment. now the trick in not destroying your body when smoking weed is to cure the munchies with green vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. stay away from fast foods. this is how people go crazy on weed.

Drug use and body depletion

Kristen Stewart in Panic Room (film)

One of the great dangers of drug use is body depletion, which is responsible for much of the fear and discomfort felt by users.

Due to the excessive demands on the body of some drugs it is essential to have access to fresh air, liquids, nutritious food, and appropriate rest while under their influence and after their use.  Some drugs, such as the stimulants, are particularly hard on the body and require significant periods of rest after their use to allow the body to recover from the assault of their use.

Salvia insights in a forest

Insights gained after smoking the visionary herb Salvia Divinorum in a forest in 2009:

-Mind connections between people are more real than objective physical reality.

-Mind is the primary reality.

Minimising PARANOIA in drug use

Any mental stimulant has the potential to cause paranoia in the individual. This is not unique to cannabis, but also includes the use of large doses of coffee, too long spent in rooms with insufficient air, the experience of heights. The body is placed in overdrive under these circumstances and the result for some individuals is large doses of fear, a.k.a PARANOIA!

There is a solution to this, of course. Paranoia arises with the thought "something is wrong". This thought is often connected to the physical experience of something being VERY WRONG IN THE BODY- insufficient oxygen intake. A revved up system needs revved up inputs to keep the body from beginning to signal very strongly that SOMETHING IS WRONG!

The intake of watered down juice or some other substance with safe and healthy doses of readily available energy also enhances this process.

Generally such periods of enhanced NUTRITION and OXYGEN needs are quite limited in terms of time. To deal with such periods effectively swift outdoor breezes, preferably cool, or the use of a room fan and the glass of readily available juice can be used.
