Why I am against the drug war

Sharka Todd + 2001 (film)

I am against the drug war because I believe the individual should have the freedom to partake of the fruits of the earth in their own way and of their own choosing.  And this includes those things created in a science lab, such as the drugs MDMA (Ecstasy), LSD and ketamine, which have been shown to be useful for personal development.

A free market in these things would help drive the market towards the provision of safer and more effective forms of these substances, if that is the desire of consumers.  This may help reduce some of the negative effects the outlawing of mind-alterants has, which includes poor, unsafe, adulterated and unreliable products, unwanted deaths through inadvertent overdose, lengthy prison sentences and lives ruined for those caught up in the trade, and the empowering of criminal elements in society.

The legalizing of drugs would not erase the dangers of addiction and misuse which currently exist but through access to accurate, unbiased information on individual drugs and safe use, and the provision of support services for users who need them, these negatives could be minimized.

Meanwhile, the whole process would be under the control of society rather than being run by rogue criminal elements, and would therefore be more transparent and able to be changed to suit evolving community ideas.

Nutritional needs of smoking marijuana: BUZUGEE

buzugee:

i believe [smoking MJ] takes your mentals and spirit to a whole new level of consciousness that you can and will never achieve consciously. the only negative thing about it though is that in the trance of your new consciousness and the awakening of all your senses, this saps your body of a lot of nutrients and hence why you get the munchies. your body is crying out for nourishment. now the trick in not destroying your body when smoking weed is to cure the munchies with green vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. stay away from fast foods. this is how people go crazy on weed.

Drug use and body depletion

Kristen Stewart in Panic Room (film)

One of the great dangers of drug use is body depletion, which is responsible for much of the fear and discomfort felt by users.

Due to the excessive demands on the body of some drugs it is essential to have access to fresh air, liquids, nutritious food, and appropriate rest while under their influence and after their use.  Some drugs, such as the stimulants, are particularly hard on the body and require significant periods of rest after their use to allow the body to recover from the assault of their use.

Minimising PARANOIA in drug use

Any mental stimulant has the potential to cause paranoia in the individual. This is not unique to cannabis, but also includes the use of large doses of coffee, too long spent in rooms with insufficient air, the experience of heights. The body is placed in overdrive under these circumstances and the result for some individuals is large doses of fear, a.k.a PARANOIA!

There is a solution to this, of course. Paranoia arises with the thought "something is wrong". This thought is often connected to the physical experience of something being VERY WRONG IN THE BODY- insufficient oxygen intake. A revved up system needs revved up inputs to keep the body from beginning to signal very strongly that SOMETHING IS WRONG!

The intake of watered down juice or some other substance with safe and healthy doses of readily available energy also enhances this process.

Generally such periods of enhanced NUTRITION and OXYGEN needs are quite limited in terms of time. To deal with such periods effectively swift outdoor breezes, preferably cool, or the use of a room fan and the glass of readily available juice can be used.
