The need for psychics to be humble

If a psychic isn't humble while they are performing a reading then their ego will interfere with the process.  The idea is that they allow their mind to lay fallow (i.e. they enter an "inner listening" state) to see what emerges and this is described to those present.  If someone is ego driven that will interfere with the process and color the reading.  That's one reason I am skeptical of some of the "media psychics".  If you put any of your preconceptions into the reading it will be distorted.  Think of a medium like a radio receiver in that they both receive a signal and interpret it, hopefully in as neutral a way as possible.  When your own mind is also generating a signal this can interfere with the listening process.  This is why the first step is to learn to quieten one's own mind.  Second comes the inner listening process.

Randi's new $1 million challenge- proof of God

Randi the magician has a new $1 million challenge.

This one is aimed at both scientists and layman, alike.

All they have to do is come up with one reasonable idea about how God could provide unequivocal evidence of His existence, that all reasonable people would accept as proof, and share this with the world!

This is a very simple challenge which would be especially attractive to those atheists who believe God just hasn't provided enough evidence of His existence for them to believe.  Therefore, I am sure they can think of something that would rectify this situation!

We are tired of the "plausible deniability" of God's existence and we want ideas for what irrefutable evidence of His existence might look like!

"Cold readings" and psychic powers

I have visited with a number of psychics, but have never experienced a "cold reading", where a fake psychic goes fishing for information from the client.

A good psychic doesn't need to ask you any questions, except to ask what questions YOU would like answered.  When I receive a reading I say very little and just listen.  They are the ones who are being fed information and it is up to me to listen to it!  If they seem to be fishing for information as cold readers apparently do then you know they are poor at their profession and are unworthy of one's time and money.  Some may say that the psychic is reading the client's body language- and this is something that can't be stopped- but only a very limited amount and type of information can be gained from body language alone.

An intelligent client knows when the information being presented is going beyond what can be ascertained from body language and "cold reading" alone.  This is what gives one faith in the process. Those that haven't had this experience are in no position to judge.  For them to say psychic powers don't exist would be like someone who has never experienced love saying love doesn't exist!  It would be sheer foolishness!

Using subtle feelings to navigate through life

Star Wars Episode 1- The Phantom Menace
by Stuart Wilde

You are everything. Everything emits a feeling. So you are all the feelings of the universe. Therefore, if you want to know what is round the next corner you only have to blank your mind and enter the feeling. Remember, subtle feeling is ESP, not emotion. Of course, most people are not used to listening to their subtle feelings for information, as they are either all mental activity, or they confuse feelings with emotions.

What seems to be an extra sensory perception of feelings is, in fact, your primary perception. The mind and its free will are the override. They enter a guessing game when in fact you already have all the answers, you always did have. You also know exactly what is going on and what is about to happen next. All human action rises from a hidden subconscious impulse and that impulse has a feeling.

When you get good at it, you can ‘feel’ the very subtle impulses that will occur in the future. After you master listening to your feelings, you don’t have to plan or think. It’s all obvious, minute-by-minute. It’s such a relief. Of course, once your life becomes immediate, you won’t be able to plan very far ahead, as at any moment your subtle feelings might cancel your mental plan; however, it does allow you to be right all the time. Your subtle feelings are never wrong.

Once you follow the subtle plan, life becomes magical—but you will not at first understand the synchronicity of life that is all around you, weaving its magic. Yes, the universe is close-by and all around you. Simple. That is why I say get rid of free will; it’s a disaster and part of the control trip. You’re probably a slave to it. Drop it. Stop searching and planning, stop it. Stop pretending your intellect knows what to do. Feel out what you ought to do next. You’ll get good at it very quickly. At first you may make a few mistakes by letting emotion or thinking get in the way, but you will soon master it.

Soon nothing will be able to hide from you, and after a while your subtle feelings will talk to you in more complex ways, like visions. If everyone went with their feelings, this zoo, this prison, would fall apart. We’d leave the world of emotion and mind and enter the Kingdom of Heaven, as our subtle feelings are part of the Kingdom of Heaven. They offer us the real truth.

A response to James Randi's call to ban psychics

Watch a video of James Randi expressing his desire to outlaw the promotion of supernatural beliefs here.

Well known "skeptic" James Randi believes supernatural ideas are promoted by the media to please sponsors. But he fails to mention that the sponsors like having people watch their ads and that TV and radio are programmed to draw an audience to increase advertising revenue. In other words, psychic matters are discussed because people are interested in them and it therefore draws an audience with the resulting advertising revenue. This is democracy in action in the marketplace.

What Randi seems to be suggesting is some kind of elitist or totalitarian approach to remove from the media those things that a select "knowledgeable" few believes promotes untruths or "pseudoscience". But who gets to choose what is banned and what would this mean for a supposedly "free" society?

Randi seems unable to realize what he is promoting. He is certainly un-American in his thinking. Instead, he is more aligned with the Communist Chinese Government who seek to control what the public has access to, to protect the government's interests. Why any free society would wish to move closer to such a repressive regime remains unclear and highlights the shallowness of thought entertained by James Randi.
