A comment on calming drugs:
The only drugs I trust now are opioids, used wisely. They don't have the negative effects of anti-psychotics, benzodiazapines, z-drugs and anti-depressants.
Most people are put on a anti-psychotic or benzo to calm them down. But coming off those things makes you worse. It super-sensitises your nervous system and can lead to akathisia, which is a nightmare.
An opioid saved Jordan Peterson from his 3 year battle with akathisia. Unfortunately, few doctors feel comfortable prescribing opioids. They fear addiction. But all drugs taken ongoing cause physical dependence, which is worse than addiction.
