A new school system

Once a child has learnt to read, write and do basic arithmetic they should be allowed to withdraw from conventional schooling, and focus on those things that truly interest them.  This may involve undertaking specialist training in areas of interest or it could involve self directed learning.

The current system where people are stuck in school from the age of about 5 until they are 18 or older, with limited control over what they experience or learn, I find incredibly wasteful and also very disrespectful to the child.  They should be allowed to make choices about their life direction as soon as they are able. In this way, too, their unique abilities and talents can be best brought to the fore.
