Religion v evidence-based spirituality

Religious beliefs are based upon the interpretation of written scriptures by the priestly caste. Followers are expected to believe these things uncritically as these are "the word of God", passed down over generations.  One's own experience is seen as irrelevant in determining these beliefs.

Evidence-based spirituality is based upon one’s own experience combined with the written and spoken words of people who are trusted to tell the truth about their own experience. Combining these things we form a unique world view.  This world view may have little in common with conventional religious belief.
